ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Army MI-17 helicopter crashed near Muzaffarabad on Wednesday after developing a technical fault, the military’s media wing said, adding that all personnel on board were martyred.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that rescue and relief teams immediately reached the crash site following the incident.
It said a board of inquiry had been constituted to determine the exact technical cause of the crash.
The ISPR did not specify the number of personnel on board the helicopter.

Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and other senior army officers expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the accident, according to the ISPR.
They also conveyed condolences and solidarity with the bereaved families of the deceased personnel.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed grief and sorrow over the helicopter crash near Muzaffarabad.
The president expressed condolences over the loss of military personnel in the incident and conveyed sympathy with the bereaved families.
“The nation pays tribute to the martyrs and shares the grief of their families,” Zardari said, adding that prayers were being offered for the elevation of the ranks of the deceased and patience for their loved ones.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the tragic crash, paying tribute to the personnel who lost their lives.
He said the entire nation salutes the sacrifices of its “brave sons” and prayed for strength for the bereaved families and for the departed souls.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also expressed grief and sorrow over the helicopter crash, saying all personnel on board had attained martyrdom, according to a statement.
Naqvi expressed condolences with the families of those killed in the incident and conveyed sympathy with the bereaved families.
“Our sympathies are with the families of the martyrs in this hour of grief,” he said, adding that the government stood with them.
He paid tribute to the personnel who lost their lives in the crash and said the nation salutes the sacrifices of its “brave sons.”
