The drive unit (1) has a drive element (2) adjusted between a normal position and an activation position and brought in engagement with a movable component (19). A gas generator (3) i.e. pyrotechnic micro gas generator, stands in an operating connection with the drive element and moves the drive element from the normal position to the activation position. The drive element includes a bellow-shaped expansion region (4) that is adjusted by activation of the gas generator from a folded position to the normal position and a deployed position to the activation position. The bellow-shaped expansion region is formed from a metal membrane.
