An absorption device (10) is connected to the battery housing by a support element e.g. frame (4) that is configured to absorb fluid escaped in the battery housing. The absorption device comprises a first material ply (2.1) and a second material ply (2.2) connected over certain regions in the first material ply in a manner to form a set of pockets (9). An absorbing element (1) is received in one of the pockets. The support element is fastened to a base of the battery housing. The material plies are resilient fluid permeable.
