The present invention relates to an internal combustion engine in which water is injected into the combustion air, with the water being stored in a storage container. In order to avoid the disadvantages of the prior art, the invention provides that the storage container consists of a collection tank and a main tank, which are connected to one another in such a manner that water supplied via a water inlet provided on the collection tank can only reach the main tank via the collection tank.
