Starting from the time point (t) of the termination of the first operating mode, the temporal development of a parameter from the environment of the vehicle (7) is determined for a specific duration (t), wherein the vehicle (7) is at least partially in the second operating mode during the specific duration (t). Furthermore, depending on the range (R) upon termination of the first operating mode and the temporal development of the parameter, the temporal development of the range (R) is predicted for the specific duration (t).
