This may be the deluxe bike trailer you didn't realize you were dreaming of

Most people don't give a lot of thought to bike cargo trailers … they think of the things as being just little towed carts. The Veolo Bike Trailer 2.0, however, is likely one of the lightest, smoothest-running, most well-appointed offerings you can buy.

The view of a 2024 Crust Romanceür from West Seattle at dawn, reproducing an earlier post with a new frame.

The bike was rebuilt after getting t-boned by a red-light runner in January of 2024 which destroyed the bike, broke my pelvis, snapped my left femur, turned my left tibia and fibula into a jigsaw puzzle of seven major pieces, and…

Brilliant bike tail light may awaken your inner Jedi knight

Bicycle tail lights have a way of playing second fiddle to their brighter, more interesting headlight siblings. We're sure you'll agree, however, that the Hi-Tail is one tall, telescoping tail light that definitely won't be "outshined."

Austrian company Tubolito is known for manufacturing bicycle inner tubes from TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), a high-tech material originally used for smartphone speaker membranes. The material turned out to work very well for tubes, outperforming traditional rubber and latex options. TPU tubes are lighter, offer lower rolling resistance, and at the same time are highly robust.

Semi-solid-state battery tech rolls into ebike territory

The battery has long been the weak link of the electric bike. It degrades in the cold, ages poorly with fast charging, and rarely survives more than four years of heavy use. Ride1Up thinks it has a fix – and it's priced it for regular people.

Free parking isn’t cheap

It is practical for Decatur to help people who live near busy commercial districts by banning non-resident parking on certain residential streets. I just want the city to price exclusive parking rights fairly. The city is proposing charging residents on busy streets $25/year for exclusive rights to park on a street near their home. Is […]

Enclosed ebike uses retractable outriggers to keep riders on the upright

Fully-enclosed velomobiles may offer weather protection and an aerodynamic advantage over bicycles, but their three wheels do add weight and rolling resistance. The outrigger-equipped Manta ebike, however, takes a unique alternative approach.
