It's HOT Here In Australia

It's the red heart of Australia and so saying, "It's HOT here in Australia" may seem like a blindingly obvious thing to say however, as I write this in May 2026, it's bloody cold in Papunya. The UK is having a an unusually early heatwave and Monmouth's low is our high, I know!

It's usually stinking hot though, especially during the summer months and, according to those that spend their working…

Let's Meet Johnny Warangkula

An AT (Aboriginal Teacher / Assistant Teacher) sat next to me the other week and was telling me how Johnny was her grandad.

"Johnny? Johnny who?", I asked, she looked bemused at me.

So I Googled and here's Johnny!

Johnny Warangkula Tjupurrula (1925 – 12 February 2001) was an Australian painter whose work has been widely collected and well-regarded since the late 60s. Many of his pieces…

Views Of Papunya (Northern Territory, Australia)

We've been in Papunya around six weeks and wow, it's true what they say, if you want to slow down time fill your life with new experiences. The cooking / chefs are grand, but no more than anywhere else. The dishes themselves are fine and dandy, but again not something you can't get in different countries.

The ingredients though, ohhh wow, the ingredients are all so good.

The meat is top quality, the vegetables are always tasty, the fruit so fresh! Even the noodles are yummy beyond normal.

The night before we first headed…

Living In A Hotel, It Eventually Sucks

I recall talking to a mate back in the early 2010s as I was a jet-setting dude with a cloud to sell. I was often in Sydney early Monday morning and then elsewhere in Australia doing the do, selling the stuff.

It was a lot of fun, to start with.

Eventually my early morning Monday flight crept into Sunday evening before oozing back in time to Sunday afternoon. I started to hate it, even…

"What an adventure"

The word "adventure" is now banned from our lexicon. This time in Australia is an adventure, but it's also just how it is and I'm tired of saying it and hearing it.

Our first few weeks of 'work' haven't exactly panned out as we thought it would. Firstly Mens Business* in Papunya has collided with the coming of the Law Man** from out of the western desert. He arrived with an entourage of…
