Donald Smith named interim dean and vice provost of Graduate Studies

Smith brings extensive experience in graduate education, faculty leadership, research administration, and student mentorship to this role. He joined the UC Santa Cruz faculty in 1996 and, before retiring in 2025, served as distinguished professor of Microbiology and Environmental Toxicology and associate dean of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs.

UC Santa Cruz establishes new Veterinary Medicine pathway through agreement with University of Bristol

UC Santa Cruz has established its first formal pathway to veterinary school through a new agreement with the University of Bristol. The partnership creates a direct route for eligible graduates to earn an accredited veterinary medicine degree in the United Kingdom and pursue licensure in the United States.
