Smallest GUI distro (for a low-RAM Chromebook)?

PeppermintOS? I’m trying to prepare an ancient Chromebook C202S for Linux and have had some ideas from antiX to MXLinux and Loc-OS, but it seems that PeppermintOS may be among the best choices.

The tech level of this Chromebook’s end user is unlikely to work well with Arch + BSPWM, which was recommended to me by someone else.

I wish I had mustered up the courage to leave Windows earlier; my PCs are so quiet now

I feel like trying to persuade people to leave Windows purely from a privacy angle is being too specific or extreme for those who really don’t care/gave up. I think a great, alternative way to win people over would be to simply point out how much more efficient it is and energy-saving for their own electric bills.

I just discovered the Cinnamon extensions "Burn My Windows" and "Compiz windows effect"

… and I’m having a blast! What simple yet incredibly well-designed extensions! I wish someone told me about these earlier, haha. Cinnamon-Screenshot is also nicer than the default; I mapped that to PrtScn. And Fancy Tiles of course everyone should always have on any 24+" monitor.

How do I manually check for BIOS security updates from my motherboard manufacturer?

I read somewhere on Reddit that people who use Linux should periodically, manually check for security updates to their computers’ BIOS from their motherboard manufacturers, because Linux apparently ends automatic updates once you leave Windows.
