The Union government has released draft rules for the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, initiating a public consultation phase. The scheme is slated for nationwide implementation starting July 1.

The Congress party has accused the central government of undermining the MGNREGA scheme, leading to widespread work stoppages and a lack of employment for rural labourers. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the 'right to work' has been compromised, and a new promised scheme remains absent on the ground.
