Motherboards are down to some unbelievable prices for Prime Day, which makes sense given how rough RAM prices are right now.

This has never changed, but I'm looking for a second opinion about it before moving on. I'm not an electrical engineer. I don't think there was ever an answer to my question in the motherboard manual we receive in a new retail mobo box.
The pinouts traditionally feature TWO (2) PWR_LED pinouts. It may be that one of them spans three pins and the other spans two, but not so much a problem…
All hail AM4, the greatest CPU socket ever! Ten years old, and still rocking!
That board looks sexy, and it ought to pair beautifully with the refreshed 5800X3D hitting the market soon...

The Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite WiFi7 usually retails for $319..99, but the premium motherboard has gone on sale for $249.99.
New BIOS updates featuring AMD EXPO Ultra Low Latency support are being released across a plethora of 600-series motherboards by multiple vendors.
The Z990 PCH for Nova Lake motherboards is apparently 22% smaller than Z890, despite featuring a higher power maximum power draw of up to 14W. The leaked picture of the PCH shows a 11.15 x 6.5mm die and 25 x 24mm package, but we're unsure what motherboard it actually comes from.
A couple of new add-in cards exemplify the trend of slapping AMD's Promontory 21 chipset onto a card for extra I/O expansion.
At under $270, the Gigabyte Z890 Aorus Elite Wifi7 Plus is a worthwhile mainstream motherboard. Fast networking and ample storage options are just two of the highlights of this refreshed Z890 offering.
The Infinity Next sure does look purdy.
I doubt there is any solution to my problem, other than wait for a sensible answer from Beelink.
I purchased my Beelink GTi13 Minipc in Dec 2025. It was shipped without secureboot enabled and I took no notice of this until Windows 11 updates started failing due to secureboot failing.
So, I enabled secureboot and got the latest BIOS for my GTi13 from Beelink support. Beelink has also issued a CSME…
The ROG Crosshair 2006 is a premium mid-range AM5 board with retro flair, robust power delivery, dual LAN, Wi-Fi 7, and five M.2 sockets – but the limited run and nostalgia premium is the real reason you might want to spend $100 more over the similar Dark Hero.
These past few months my Samsung 4TB 990 Pro SSD has been unresponsive twice already when installed in the 2nd M.2 slot of my motherboard. First time I was using come sort of GUI-based Robo Copy program to copy files to it and the program came up with an error coping message about 90% of the way through the copy process and quit the copying process. Another time I was playing Flight Simulator…
You can certainly grab an X870E if you need an inordinate amount of M.2 slots for storage, as well as support for a large number of USB 4.0 ports but if you…
I currently have an AM4 based 5950x w/64Gb of ram on a AsRock Creator MB that has 2 RX6700XT Vid cards and a 930-8i raid controller w/ 6 14TB SAS drives I have been looking to finally step up to AM5 eventually but it looks like there are more problems like PCIE slots on AM5 other than just the DDR5 cost as an impediment. I have 5 monitors and a AVR/TV so 2 vid cards is imperative. Also, I…

All that glitters is not gold. Or copper, for that matter.
The Asus Prime Z890-P Wifi is a solid, all-around budget-class board for Z890 and the latest Core Ultra chips. However, other boards around its price offer compelling features and better value.
The AI boom and its impact aren't letting up, as the trouble it has caused for RAM kits is now affecting motherboard manufacturers.
Fresh on the heels of Lisa Su predicting a slowdown in gaming this year, here comes the confirmation from manufacturers themselves: the hobby is slowly dying...
The memory crisis has hit motherboards, with manufacturers now in 'collapse'
Can we put AI back in the box?
The combined sales of the four biggest motherboard manufacturers are expected to fall by at least 28% in 2026, with the entire industry selling 11.7 million less units due to increasing PC component costs.

Gigabyte’s Z890 Aorus Elite Duo X lands square in the mid-range sweet spot, offering ample connectivity, five M.2 sockets, native Arrow Lake Refresh support, and CQDIMM compatibility, all for a compelling sub-$280 price.
Colorful’s iGame X870E Vulcan OC V14 is a capable premium mid-range motherboard built for overclocking, thanks to its robust power delivery, cooling, and design. It faces tough competition at its price point, but remains a solid, feature-rich option under $700.
Gigabyte’s X870E Aorus Xtreme X3D AI Top delivers flagship-class hardware and excellent performance at a comparatively lower price, balancing high-end features, comprehensive connectivity, and even AI-focused tools for premium AM5 builds.
New AGESA updates are bringing EXPO 1.2 support to more and more 800-series AM5 motherboards, but CUDIMM support remains only partial. Because Zen 4 and 5's IMC is incompatible with CUDIMM, it can only run in bypass mode with limited speeds. Moreover, older 600-series motherboards are now also expected to get EXPO 1.2 support later.
Please -- don't tell me I need to buy newer generation parts. I bought the Asus Strix Z590-E gaming board last year during the Win 10 EOL panic before the ESU was released. Even Rocket Lake is new enough that I can replace one of my SKY/KABY LAKE systems (which run Win 11 flawlessly). It is time that I put these parts to use.
Again -- I have the i7-11700K Rocket Lake processor, and the ASUS…
I'm trying to put together a system using an A8N32-SLI Deluxe. When it boots up, I get a message saying "chassis intruded! fatal error. system halted." I didn't find anything in the BIOS to turn that off. The jumper on the MB is set to the default setting. I even repalced the jumper thinking it might not be making good contact between the pins. Any ideas what could possibly fix this problem?
I just got a MSI MAG X870E Tomahawk WiFi MB and want to update the BIOS with the board vacant. Where is the LED that lights up for that? Also using a Sandisk 32GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 Flash Drive. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
That rear IO panel is giving me the ick, though.
