In 1927, Floyd and Jane Wray purchased 320 acres of land near the Everglades for $5.00 per acre to establish a citrus orchard. They named their enterprise Flamingo Grove and planted their first orange tree on February 22, 1927. McRaven Tour Home is Mississippi's most haunted house. It's strictly a tour home built in 1797 by highwayman Andrew Glass as a hideout. It was added on in 1836 and again in 1849, but the original portion of the house remains 1797. Civil War buffs will love learning about how McRaven was used as a field camp and later field hospital during the Siege of Vicksburg.
