Hades

Back when I purchased my Nintendo Switch in 2023, there were only a few titles I cared about trying on it. Among the first games I purchased at the time was _Hades_ , released in 2020, developed by Supergiant Games.

_Hades_ had already made a name for itself, as a title that redefined the genre and the medium, in manners that only a few get to do. It happened with _Ocarina of Time_ and 3D action…

World Cup, Sci-Fi movies, Birthday! - W24

Hey hey! Good news, this was my birthday week! And it has been pretty awesome. The World Cup started, and as much as I hate everything behind the politics and the greediness of FIFA. Us Mexicans and many other people choose to focus on the beautiful game that brings the world together, no matter what.

Alas, these are my notes from June 9 to 15, 2026, enjoy!

  • 🚲 Went on another nice ride in…

Week Notes - 2026-24

I know I like to say this, but is it really half way through June already? This week was the calm after the storm that was last weekend.

👾 Golf with your Friends has become our midweek evening activity. I bought some extra courses this week as they're on sale currently on Steam. I also started playing OpenRCT2 because I wanted to see how it looked on my new ultrawide monitor. There is so much…

Every physical Nintendo Switch game I have

I thought it would be fun to list every single physical game I own, and try to justify my purchasing desitions. Honestly though, it will be a bit painful too. It will be a paragraph per game, so it should not be that long.

I will also note how worth the purchase is or will be once I play it, in my opinion. This is not based on future pricing or rarity, but how much I’ll actually enjoy the title…

Posts I did not write in one go

I am one of those who prefers to get something done in the span of a day or else whatever I publish will need way more work on my part, to make sure the tone stays consistent and the flow of what I write makes sense.

I actually write most of these posts in a single big text file that I then copy paste to a final post.

So, by looking at this text file, I have an idea of a few drafts that have…

In isolation, Metroid Prime, rainy days - W23

This week went by in a flash, I don’t even know what to put on my weeknotes here. I was just playing Metroid Prime Remastered.

Okay I remembered a few more things I guess, here we go!

  • 🧳 My parents went on a trip for medical reasons (everything was fine!) and I stayed home alone once again. It was a rather chill time and all I did was go to work, come back, and play Metroid Prime ,…

Week Notes - 2026-23

This week was a busy one! We headed to London for the weekend and managed to complete the following in just under 48 hours. A more detailed weekend blog post will be coming soon. Here is the 'too long; didn't read' version:

  • British Museum to see the Rosetta stone and the Elgin Marbles. We also saw some Egyptian mummies! 🧻
  • My Neighbour Totoro at Gillian Lynne Theatre
  • A 50th Birthday…

A couple of bike commutes

Today I used my bike as a tool and not just for excercise or hobby!

My mom wanted me to go with her to some place, and even though she would just take me with her on the car, I decided to simply go ahead and take my bike to meet her there.

It has been raining lately, but that only made the weather comfy and cloudy overall. Riding with a purpose felt quite cool, and as always, the ride itself…

Strange Dogs

It took me a while to finish this novella, because I thought I would get it over with before I started _Tiamat’s Wrath_ (The Expanse #8) and instead I went into a reading slump for a couple of weeks, all of my book club got ahead of me in the novel and I decided to start the novel myself abandoning this a third of the way in.

The novella can actually be pretty enjoyable even without reading any…

It's Just Broken: Oh WordPress

So you want to build a Snowman errr website.

You are like pretty techy, so even though you have heard a million ads for Squarespace or Wix from your favorite YouTuber or podcaster, you decide to go with WordPress. You tell yourself 30 percent of the web runs off WordPress so that is the correct choice.

So you start Googling and you see WordPress.com and WordPress.org. Well, as a techy,…

Post cards, completing games and books - W22

Honestly, this week went by in a flash, I am not sure of what even happened with it, but either way, time continues moving forward, and some things changed during such an event, here are some notes I got from it.

  • 📬 I finally received my pair of post cards from NantucketLit’s First-Class Fiction! The mailing system in my country isn’t the best, but they arrived nice and safe. One of them was…

Week Notes - 2026-22

Another week?

Our portable aircon saved us last week. Yes, I saw the Technology Connections video. I don't care. They work well enough for us to take 4-5 degrees off a room before bed. As the saying goes: Don't let perfect be the enemy of good!

Amongst all the heat, and sun it turns out I forgot to go outside for the most part. Working from home combined with laziness is a bad combination. This…

My Home Screen (2026)

It’s been a while since I’ve done a post sharing what my home screen looks like, and a lot has changed since then. Last year I shared what’s on my phone, but it was more of a listicle that didn’t really go into the reasoning behind my choices. In any case, that’s what I plan to do here. at least for the homescreen I got right now!

Let’s start with the lock screen. Last time I was using a…

Summer Game Challenge 2026

There’s a bit of an event going on in the TWG Online Discord server where everyone agreed to set a goal, to finish at least four out of ten selected games. This usually runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day—May 25 to September 7 in 2026. However, I am Mexican, so I went with Labour Day to Independence Day, which is May 1st to September 16 here. A pretty similar time frame with a few extra days that…

More cycling, good reading, great food - W21

Behold, another week goes by, and here I am writing the introduction after being done with all of it. This time I’ll actually publish it in Monday, which is always the intention but not often what happens.

Not a lot of videogames, not a lot of manga, not a lot of much, but I did continue and made great progress on _The Expanse_ , and also had some great food all week long, so I really cannot…

Week Notes - 2026-21

I finished a book, and a game this week! Highly unusual for me. In other news this week, it's hot. Apparently the hottest May for a very long time. Therefore I'm hiding out with two large fans writing my week note in my dark study.

I started Jingo by Terry Pratchett last weekend and didn't want to put it down. I finished it last night before bed. I hadn't always gotten on with the Watch stories…

A Bank Holiday at Blists Hill Victorian Town

Blists Hill Victorian Town reopened last Thursday, so we thought we'd finally go and check it out over the bank holiday weekend. The National Trust recently took over the management of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust earlier this year. A lot has been said from both camps but for us as paying National Trust members... we think it's great! Just make sure you book a timed entry ticket!

Welcome to…

Shropshire Saturday

A few weeks ago we took a trip to Sunnycroft near Telford. This is a small National Trust site open for tours on one weekend every month, followed by a picnic lunch at nearby Attingham Park.

Walking up to the house at Sunnycorft along the driveway lined with giant redwoods felt magical and really pulls your attention away from the fact that the house now sits right in the middle of modern…

Riding a bike

So I got my bicycle from the shop and used it to return home!

That first trip was definitely an experience. I had never rode a bicycle on the road alongside other moving vehicles. When I was a child I had a rather big patio, and even though I went through the streets a few times, there were not a lot of cars—I didn’t live in a busy place.

Going from there to riding in the middle of downtown…

Nothing deserves brand loyalty

_Edit: This post actually said “royalty” instead of loyalty in the title for a whole day. Whoops._

I don’t like to think of myself as someone with “brand loyalty”, but it’s undeniable that I have preferences for the tools I use hardware and software-wise.

When it comes to brands for any product, I like to think that I do my research and often go for the most budget-friendly options. I used…

Performative Blogging

_Photo from Unsplash_

Don’t worry, I am not going to expose anyone but myself here.

A few weeks ago I saw a YouTube video: The Performative Epidemic (Invidious) by chon digital, that was about something I think everyone has heard about in one way or another.

Basically, people that pretend to do or engage in a certain activity and post about it online. All with the hopes of getting engagement…

Got mail, and went cycling! - W20

It is incredible to think about the fact that twenty weeks of the year are already over. I still feel like 2026 is barely getting started, but at the same time I’ve already done quite a bit of cool stuff. This was a pretty neat week and I went out a lot!

  • 🗒️ I have a few drafts and ideas in my head that I just can’t get myself to write about. More thoughts on my new bike, an updated Every…

Week Notes - 2026-20

Another week spent in the valley. We completed the community centre bundles in Stardew Valley which is usually where I bounce of the game for the next 12-18 months, honestly. However I carried on and we crafted a ton of quality sprinklers and now have far too many fruits and vegetables to process in a sane amount of time. I think we have space for something like 550 crops on our farm. It's a…

Buying a bike

A continuation to this post.

I decided I would get a used bike from a local bike shop.

I talked to one of the employees there and he offered me some interesting options. I felt a bit more sure of myself, I had watched a lot of bike videos and at least knew what mechanical disc brakes were, for example.

I was still undecided about it, and I kept asking random stuff, what are the types of bikes…

New bike, childhood movies, and origami for once!

This week was definitely characterized by a return to a lot of nostalgic things. No complaining, you will see what I mean as you read :P

  • 🤱 It was Mother’s Day in México! I feel bad because I didn’t do breakfast for my mom. But the rest of the day was good nonetheless. It was on Sunday so my church had a special events to honour all the mothers. Kids, teens and youth all participated, be it…

Week Notes - 2026-19

Last week was mostly devoted to Stardew Valley. We've made it to Winter Year 1 on our new farm save; we've just expanded our barns and now have cows, pigs as well as a bunch of chickens in the coop. Unfortunately, someone sold something he wasn't supposed to, which means we won't be able to complete the community centre by the end of the first year. 😅

Next week, I might dust off one of my 3DS…
